Sunday at Sissinghurst Castle

One of the cottages in the grounds of Sissinghurst Castle – I love the mellow brickwork and the colour of the sky was just fantastic as a background.

  1. I’m a sucker for castles of any sort. The touring of them is a trip through history that sets my mind whirling with ideas for stories and the characters that may have inhabited the homes at one point. Such a beautiful picture!

We’re surrounded by castles here, which is wonderful. I loved visiting them as a child, which might explain a few things! It’s one reason why I prefer living in old houses (our current house was probably built somewhere between 1550 & 1605) and enjoy history – the older the better.

I remember hearing an author quoted, I can’t remember the exact wording but it was something along the lines of, ‘a writer is someone who on overhearing the words “he was addicted to hedgehogs” makes up a story to explain what they heard’.

It rang very true for me, it sounds like it’s the same for you too. 🙂
